Application of vertical long shaft semi submersible turbine pump solution in agricultural water conservancy industry

Vertical long axis semi submersible turbine pumps are mainly used in the field of agricultural water conservancy for irrigation, drainage, and water resource allocation. With the design of vertical suction inlet and horizontal outlet, they are suitable for deep water level extraction needs. They can also achieve functions such as automatic start stop and overload alarm of liquid level through intelligent control cabinets. The characteristic of single foundation installation also greatly reduces the construction and maintenance costs of agricultural water conservancy projects.
The vertical long axis semi submersible turbine pump has a wide range of application scenarios in the field of agricultural water conservancy, and there have been multiple successful typical cases, as follows:
Application scenarios in the agricultural water conservancy industry
Backbone pump stations in large and medium-sized irrigation areas: Water is taken from large rivers, reservoirs, or main diversion channels, and transported to remote farmland through pipelines or open channels. Water can also be lifted from low-level main channels to high-level branch channels at the secondary and tertiary pumping stations in the irrigation area. The single pump flow rate can reach 1800-28800 m ³/h, with a head of 5-50 meters. Multiple vertical long axis semi submersible turbine pumps can be connected in parallel to meet the irrigation needs of tens of thousands of acres of farmland.
Well irrigation area: in the North China Plain, northwest and other areas with deep groundwater, groundwater is extracted from 10~100m deep pump wells for irrigation. The pump shaft can be extended in sections with the depth of the well, and the maximum submerged depth can be up to 30m. The semi open impeller can also be used to resist fine sand abrasion, and the motor is located on the wellhead surface, making maintenance and repair more convenient.
Irrigation stations along the Yangtze River and lakeside areas: located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, around Poyang Lake and other water bodies, the water level of the water source fluctuates greatly during the season. The impeller of the vertical long shaft pump can always be installed below the lowest dry water level, and the motor is located above the flood control elevation, so there is no need to worry about flooding or suction during the dry season. The pump room is built on the riverbank, and the long shaft passes through the embankment to directly draw water, taking into account both drought resistance and flood control.
High lift cascade water lifting irrigation: In the Loess Plateau and hilly areas, as the first stage of multi-stage water lifting, water is taken from deep valley rivers to the mid mountain reservoir, and then relayed by horizontal multi-stage pumps. It can maintain high efficiency when taking water at low water levels, avoiding the need to build deep underground pump rooms due to suction limitations of horizontal pumps.
Mobile or temporary drought resistant pump station: During seasonal droughts, trailer type vertical long axis semi submersible turbine pumps can be quickly deployed by rivers or reservoirs, driven by gasoline engines, diesel engines, or electric motors, without the need for construction foundations, suitable for emergency drought resistance or irrigation of small plots.
Drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation system water source pump: After taking water from the reservoir or large well, it is pressurized and sent to the filtration and fertilization equipment, and then supplied to the field through the pipeline network. It needs to be equipped with constant pressure variable frequency control to ensure stable working pressure of the nozzle, and the flow head curve of the pump is relatively smooth.
Targeted solutions
Parameter adaptation to different irrigation area scales: Large and medium-sized irrigation areas choose high flow models, with a single pump flow rate of up to 28800m ³/h, and multiple parallel units can meet the irrigation needs of tens of thousands of acres of farmland; For small plots or emergency drought resistance, trailer mobile models with a flow rate of 50-300m ³/h can be used for quick deployment without the need for construction foundations.
Structural adaptation to special working conditions:
The well irrigation area adopts segmented extended pump shafts, which can adapt to a maximum depth of 30 meters underwater. The semi open impeller resists fine sand wear, and the motor is placed on the ground for easier maintenance, solving the problem of difficult maintenance of submersible pumps.
The impeller is fixed below the lowest dry water level in the riverside and lakeside areas, and the long axis passes through the embankment to connect to the shore motor, ensuring normal water intake during the dry season and avoiding flooding of power equipment, while also meeting the needs of drought resistance and flood control.
Energy saving adaptation for precise irrigation: In water-saving irrigation scenarios such as drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation, constant pressure and variable frequency control can be selected to maintain stable water supply pressure. At the same time, the flow rate can be dynamically adjusted according to crop water demand, reducing irrigation energy consumption and promoting the development of precision agriculture.
Typical application cases
The Yingkou Irrigation District Continuation and Modernization Project: This project is a key water conservancy project in Liaoning Province during the 14th Five Year Plan period. It includes the construction of three pumping stations, namely the Heiyugou pumping station, the Sanba drainage and irrigation station, and the Shangjun drainage and irrigation station. A total of 14 core pumping vertical long axis semi submersible turbine pumps are selected, with a single flow rate of 20000 cubic meters per hour and a lift of 3.34-4.14 meters. The total installed flow rate of the project is 292472 cubic meters per hour, which can meet the irrigation needs of 674000 acres of paddy fields and improve the regional flood prevention capacity, providing water conservancy support for local food security.
Expansion of Sand Factory Pumping Station for Shuiduhe Reservoir Area Water Storage and Diversion Project in Changsha County: The pumping station uses four large flow vertical long axis semi submersible turbine pumps with a designed drainage flow rate of 11.75m ³/s, a single pump design flow rate of 2.7m ³/s, a design head of 9.08m, and is equipped with a 710kW-10kV high-voltage motor, which can meet the engineering needs of large-scale farmland irrigation, cross basin water transfer, and large-scale drainage in low-lying areas and lake areas.
